Submission of files for Printing
By following these simple
guidelines, the vast majority of potential problems will be
avoided. This will also ensure that your job is finished
quickly and to a high standard.
1. Include full
details of your file and the job – please advise us of
filenames, number of copies, stock to be used, and its finish.
Additionally, it is always useful to have a proof of your
document, even if it’s only in black-and-white or as a fax.
2.
Supply all fonts – whilst files such as PDF and
EPS don’t require font-files in their own right, files from such
applications as Word, Excel, PageMaker, InDesign, CorelDraw
usually do require fonts. Whilst we have many fonts ourselves,
it is important that you provide all the fonts from your own
computer.
3.
Images – similar to fonts, please supply digital
files of all of your linked and embedded image files. We can
handle such formats as TIF, JPG, EPS, etc. Images should be in
CMYK format. However, if necessary, we can convert your files
from RGB- to CMYK-format.
A resolution of at least 300dpi
is required for good definition in the printed version.
(Typically, images on websites are 72dpi, and are unsatisfactory
for print purposes. Scans of images should be done at 300dpi,
and 100% of image dimensions.
4.
Logistics – you may supply your files on CD-ROM,
DVD, USB-storage disks, Iomega Zip disks, flash card, or floppy
disk. You may also e-mail your files to us at
bprint@bigpond.net.au, but preferably, no bigger than
10Mb. Again, don’t forget to include your images, fonts,
and details as under 1, above.
Above
all, don’t hesitate to ask any questions about files you wish to
have printed – or about (almost) any other aspect of printing! |
